EK u16. 33
Allan Glens u16. 31
EK u16's maintained their unbeaten run against a powerful Allan Glens team. Both sides entered the game unbeaten , so this was always going to be a tight affair. What followed was a fantastic game of rugby . EK fell behind 14-0 early with the enormous and pacy opposition winger running in 2 long range tries. EK found their feet with Connor Wilson diving over from close range. Allan Glens stormed back ahead with a further try and conversion . At this stage EK were on the ropes , but determined defence kept them in the game. Following a series of forward drives, Andrew McMillan scored with the last play of the half.
The team regrouped at HT and realised a huge effort was needed to keep the unbeaten run going. The boys responded with a tremendous second half display. The boys simply refused to be beaten and tackled everything that moved and attacked from all angles. The boys ran in tries from Connor Wilson, Andrew McMillan and Callum Connelly-Tennock. All 3 converted by Ethan Aitken to put EK ahead 33-21. The noise and atmosphere created by parents and supporters was the loudest heard at EK in many a year !!
In fairness to Allan Glens , they never gave up and scored 2 further tries of their own. This set up a tense final 5 mins to say the least !!! Loudest cheer of the day was saved for Ryan Adamson when he knocked a defender into touch and the final whistle blew. Special mention for Sean Gallacher on his debut - what a game to choose for your first game and Liam Madden who stepped up from the u15's to help us out. Injury and illness had decimated the squad, which make the performance all the more remarkable . Well done boys .
